Approaches to estimate the magnitude of non-compliance with minimum wages

In partnership with Università Cattolica di Milano, we are currently working on a study aimed at estimating the magnitude of non-compliance with minimum wage regulation in Europe and mapping the enforcement institutions. The objective of this study is to provide with inputs on the diffusion, measurement, enforcement and best practices with respect to non-compliance with minimum wage regulations in European Member States.

CAP-PERI Common Agricultural Policy Peer Education Resources in Italy

CAPPERI Common Agricultural Policy Peer Education Resources in Italy is aimed at improving citizens and youths’ awareness on the social, economic, and environmental implications of the CAP and National and European level. The project will shed light on how the Future CAP Strategic Plans will be the instrument to achieve the Green Deal goals, how they will support EU policies in managing the transition towards a sustainable food system and in strengthening the efforts of farmers to contribute to the EU’s climate objectives and to protect the environment.


CAPPERI is financed by the IMCAP Programme of the European Commission. Irs is partner of the project together with ALDA (coordinator), La Piccionaia Centro di Produzione Teatrale, Replay Network, ISBEM – Istituto Scientifico Biomedico Euro Mediterraneo and CESIE – Centro Studi e Iniziative Europeo.

Revaluation of working conditions and wages for essential workers

2021 - in progress

In partnership with Milieu Consulting, we are carrying out a study for the EMPL Committee of the European Parliament on the "Revaluation of working conditions and wages for essential workers".
The study will provide an analysis of the challenges and risks faced by essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic in terms of health, safety and social protection, working conditions and wages and identify possible actions and policies to re-evaluate these occupations. The analysis will focus on migrant workers and women employed in low-paid essential jobs.

TO SWITCH - TOwards Senior Workers' Innovative Training CHallenges

The project TO SWITCH – TOwards Senior Workers’ Innovative Training CHallenges aims at enhancing the role of lifelong learning to ensure adult learners have the skills needed to participate in the labour market and benefit from digital transformation. The project will develop a framework of reference for senior workers’ training, establish a digital learning and sharing platform for trainers and senior workers, and develop guidelines for the training of the senior workers. 

The project brings together a network of partners from seven European countries.

The impact of digital work and teleworking on workers and society

2020 - 2021

In partnership with Milieu Consulting and Tavistock we have carried out a study for the European Parliament EMPL Committee on the impact of digital work and teleworking on workers and society. The research aims to: analyze recent and future trends in the diffusion of teleworking in EU member States and their impact on workers, enterprises and social organization; analyze the measures adopted at national and European level to address the main challenges presented by this form of work and provide suggestions on measures that could be taken by European institutions.

Gender Equality and the Socio-economic Impact of the Covid-19 Crisis

2020 - 2021

We carried out a study, commissioned by EIGE - European Institute for Gender Equality, to analyse the socio-economic consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic on gender equality. In particular, the study examines the consequences on employment, unemployment and inactivity and the impact of the changes in working conditions and teleworking on gender roles and work-life balance.

Gender inequalities in unpaid care work and on the labour market in the EU - Review of the implementation of Area F-Women and the Economy of the BPfA

The study, commissioned by EIGE, examines how unpaid care activities at home affects pay inequalities in the labour market and aims to understand the individual and policy factors that influence families' decisions to externalize or internalize care work.

Gender Dimension of the EU Cohesion Policy

The study, carried out on behalf of the European Parliament - Policy Department for Structural and Cohesion Policies, DG for Internal Policies, analyzes how the gender dimension and the principle of equality have been taken into account in the EU Cohesion Policy 2014-2020 focussing on eight cases studies (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Romania, Poland, Sweden and Ireland). The research highlighted current and future challenges and provided policy recommendations at both European and national level.

In partnership with the University of Bergamo, we carried out a study aimed at providing guidance on how to monitor the convergence of EU regions with regard to the occupational and socioeconomic dimensions, and to analyze the main drivers and consequences of convergence/divergence trends in employment and socioeconomic conditions across EU Member States and regions.

MIGRARE - Impacts of refugee flows to territorial development in Europe

2017 - 2019

The study, carried out in partnership with VVA Consulting, Institute for Territorial Economic Development (InTER), Central European University, International Centre for Migration Policy and Development (ICMPD) and Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, provides new evidence on current trends and territorial impacts of refugees and asylum seekers, as well as on reception and integration policies at local level through 11 case studies. The study also examines the possibile impacts of future policies in order to identify possible future scenarios and make recommendations for EU policies in this field.
