Study on the Area of the Beijing Platform for Action - Women and the economy

The current study aims to: provide an overview of the most recent research, policy and legislative developments from the perspective of objective F1 of the area of Women and the Economy at EU level, as well as in EU Member States and Croatia, and an elaboration of the concept of women's economic independence, providing analysis of the relation between women's economic independence and part-time employment, different types of employment contracts and self-employment; collect data on part-time employment, full-time equivalent employment rate, different type of employment contract and self-employment in connection to area F.1 - Promote women's economic rights and independence, including access to employment, appropriate working conditions and control over economic resources of BPfA in EU MS and Croatia, to organize them in a database and to develop country sheets on the basis of the collected data and information;provide qualitative and quantitative analysis from the perspective of women's economic independence, providing a review of the situation at EU level, and in the EU Member States and Croatia on the basis of the collected data and information; propose new indicators with respect to the objective  F.1 - Promote women's economic rights and independence, including access to employment, appropriate working conditions and control over economic resources of the area F: Women and the Economic by developing new indicators and sub-indicators;prepare specific knowledge-based communication products designed to facilitate the dissemination and accessibility of the results of the study;provide a collection of good practices, in connection to objective 1 of the area on Women and the Economy, with a focus on female entrepreneurship;identify and collect evidence on specific benefits of gender equality in entrepreneurship at various levels across the EU. The study involves a network of experts from all EU MS.

Network of experts in the field of gender equality - ENEGE

IRS and Fondazione Brodolini are coordinating the European Network of Expert in the Field of Gender Equality (ENEGE).ENEGE aims at contributing to the development of European policies in the field of gender equality and social inclusion by providing studies and specific ad hoc analysis on the above issues in all the countries taken into consideration. Moreover ENEGE is the prosecution of the former EU network EGGSI (Experts Network in gender equality, social inclusion, health and long term care). The first thematic report "Starting Fragile - Gender differences in the youth labour market" focused on the analysis the youth labour market with and in particular on gender differences. Another report produced within the project is "The Impact of the economic Crisis on the Situation of Women and Men and on Gender Equality Policies".

Study on implementation methods of work with the Beijing indicators in the European Union

The study has been done within the framework of the Mid-term Work Programme (2010-2012) and the Annual Work Programme 2010 of EIGE - European Institute for Gender Equality. This study is intended to review the status and progress of 94 efforts towards development and deployment of gender statistics within the EU with specific regard to the indicator set established as a consequence of the 1995 Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (BPfA). IRS has realize an overview of the approaches and methodologies to using gender statistics and the Beijing objectives and indicators in gender policy (including Area on violence against women) . With the same goal, a review of websites has been completed, focussing in particular on the international organizations involved in analysis, research and implementation of policies on gender issues (EUROSTAT, UNECE, OECD, National Statistical Offices - NSO). The analysis has generated knowledge of the issues pertinent to the study and an enhanced understanding of data available for the study, particularly in regard to main sources used to calculate the BPfA indicators, and to methods and approaches for measurement of the achievement of BPfA objectives.

Mapping the Current Status and Potential of Administrative Sources of Data on Gender-Based Violence in the EU and Croatia

The study is aimed to map the current Status and potential of administrative sources of data on gender-based violence in the EU and Croatia. The study includes the following activities: review of existing information on gender based violence, mapping administrative sources on gender based violence, compiling criminal statistical data and assessing feasibility of EU level data collection. The study is implemented in partnership with Matrix.

Collection of methods, tools and good practices in the field of domestic violence (as described by area D of Beijing Platform for Action)

The study is actually is intended to 1) produce a state of the art review of the research and the policy developments in the area of domestic violence; 2) to collect, systematize existing gender training, awareness raising and victims support resources and information, identifying gaps and needs, providing recommendations for further developments; 3) to make easily accessible data and information through EIGE's Resource and Documentation Centre. The study covers all the 27 EU Member States and Croatia, and include initiatives at the European/national/local level.

Management of the networks of 30 european experts on gender inclusion, provision of a comparative thematic reports

Since 2007, IRS, as the lead contractor, manages (with Fondazione Brodolini) a network of 30 Country experts on gender inclusion and provides comparative thematic reports on the gender perspective in social inclusion, health and long term care. Within this activity, the following reports were drafted: Ethnic minority and Roma women in Europe: A case for gender equality? (2008); Gender mainstreaming active inclusion policies. Synthesis report.  (2009); Access to health care and long-term care: Equal for women and men? Final Synthesis report (2009);Violence against women and the role of gender equality, social inclusion and health strategies (2009);  "Violence Against Women and The Role of Gender Equality, Social Inclusion and Health Strategies" (2010); "The socio-economic impact of pension systems on the respective situations of women and men and the effects of recent trends in pension reforms" (2011); The impact of the Economic Crisis on the Situation of Women and Men and on Gender Equality Policies (2012).
